Cross-Country Skiing and
Skijoring at Glacier Outdoor Center
Glacier Outdoor Center is the
perfect place to begin your winter adventures in the Glacier National Park
area. We groom 10 Kilometers of cross-country ski trails for both traditional and
skate skiers. The 10km trail system meanders and rolls through moderate terrain
on over 100 acres in West Glacier, just behind Glacier Outdoor Center. Trail
fees are only $5 per day, $20 per week, or $50 for a season pass!
New this year, bring your furry friends out and try doggie
skijoring, an activity that's both thrilling for you and a great way to get
your dog some exercise in the winter! Pets are allowed on trails after noon
every day. Also new this year, we have pulkas for rent and for sale. A pulka is
a tow-behind ski sled, great for taking the kids out for a ride
Are you new to the sport, or left your equipment at home?
Glacier Outdoor Center provides ski
and snowshoe rentals throughout the winter season. Skijoring
equipment is available for rent too, so come try it out!
Cross-Country
Skiing in Glacier National Park
Snow sports provide an excellent way to enjoy
Glacier National Park and the
Flathead National Forest in winter. Ski trails and routes provide a range of
scenery, terrain, and difficulty. While the ski trails within Glacier National
Park are not groomed, the access to trails is great! The Going-to-the-Sun Road
and the Camas Road are the entry points to the park for cross-country skiers
and snowshoers to blaze their own trail. As a courtesy to skiers, snowshoers
should maintain a separate track where possible. We can recommend many popular trails in Glacier
National Park that are easily accessible from Glacier Outdoor
Center. Let us help you find your winter adventure!
Snowmobiling
in the Flathead National Forest
There are 234 miles of groomed snowmobile
trails in the Flathead Valley, including Canyon Creek (North Fork Road, 10
miles from West Glacier), Desert Mountain (Martin City, 8 miles from West
Glacier), Werner Peak Trail (Olney), Graves Creek (Fortine), Crane Mountain
(Ferndale). Consider Glacier Outdoor
Center Cabins for your base camp while exploring Flathead National
Forest by snowmobile! For more information on snowmobile trails, call the
Hungry Horse Ranger Station at (406) 387-3800. For snowmobile rentals, contact
