Spring
2008
Glacier Raft Company Eddy Lines
Hello from West
Glacier, Montana!
We are celebrating
our 33nd Season The world headquarters at Glacier Raft & Outdoor
Center is bustling as we roll, or more accurately "row" into our 33rd season as
Northwest Montana's premier adventure outfitter. We had an incredible winter
with a lot of activity at our new
Nordic Center, entering
its second year of operation. But winter has now retreated from Montana and the
three forks of the Flathead River are primed and ready for whitewater
adventures.
An
Outstanding Season in 2008
The winter of 2007-08 left a record
breaking blanket of snow in the mountains around
Glacier National Park, which means that
we'll have a hearty helping of spring run-off and
outstanding whitewater
for weeks to come. Our first trip of the season hit the water on May 8th and
those inaugural guests saw first hand that rapids like "Jaws" and "Bone
Crusher" are in top form and ready to take on all challengers.
Although whitewater reigns supreme in May and June,
anglers need not worry.
Crystal clear water and ideal fishing conditions are just weeks away. The
designation as a "catch and release" fishery has allowed the Flathead to grow
Westslope Cutthroat Trout that are bigger and feistier than ever (check out
this massive cutthroat our co-owner Darwon Stoneman landed a few weeks ago).
Our team of expert fishing guides can't wait to get on the water and
show you the
excitement that one of Montana's best kept secrets has to offer anglers of all
ability levels.
Great Fishing on
the Flathead! When it comes to reeling in the biggest and best
fish the Flathead has to offer, our full-service fly shop and outdoor store can
provide you with the best local insight, as well as a wide range of
top-of-the-line rod, reel, and accessory options. For
beginner anglers the
Glacier Outdoor Center offers casting clinics and equipment demos on our
stocked fishing pond—it's the perfect way to develop and perfect your
skills. We will also be hosting two women's fly fishing clinics this summer; On
June 20-22 Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks presents Becoming an Outdoors Woman
(BOW) and on July 23-24 Federation of Fly Fishers will provide The Two-Day
Women's Workshop. For registration and information contact
Montana FWP, or
Federation of Fly Fishers,
respectively.
Glacier Outdoor
Center Rentals The 2008 summer season marks the arrival of Liquidlogic
kayaks, Esquif whitewater canoes, and NuCanoe recreational sit-on-top kayaks to
the Glacier Outdoor
Center fleet. We've also got our same great raft and inflatable options
from Aire, Tributary, and Outcast. So, whether you are an experienced boater
looking for first-rate performance, an intermediate paddler looking to upgrade
your craft, or a beginner in search of a new addiction, we've got the boats to
match!
