Sweet Grass Hills Lake Fly Fishing

The four lakes are located near the Sweet Grass Hills in Blackfeet Country East of the Continental Divide and range from 10-20 acres. The lakes are located on a privately owned ranch with fishing as good as the Blackfeet Reservation. There is a great first timer pond located near the cabins for overnight trips.
There are many wildlife viewing opportunities as well as beautiful scenery that includes rolling hills and buttes. There are also opportunities to find arrowheads. Fishing at these lakes is shore based but we may also use float tubes. You will be fishing for kamloops rainbow and brook trout using dry lines and sinking lines. You may also use lake lines and intermediate sink lines.
The drive from West Glacier to the fishing location boarders Glacier National Park and has great views. You pass through portions of Glacier Park including the Goat Lick, which is where you will find goats licking the side of a steep canyon. You also cross the Continental Divide and transition from the Rocky Mountains to the Prairie. The drive will not disappoint.
Wear nylon pants and buzz off clothes to keep the bugs away. There are no trees near the lake so you should also wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
This trip can also be a multi day trip with cabin and meals provided.
All fishing trips depart from Glacier Outdoor Center. Check in 30 minutes prior to trip departure.
A Montana Fishing License is required for Daily Fly Fishing Trips. Licenses can be purchased at Glacier Outdoor Center prior to departure.
